The Final Destination Movie Review

The Final Destination is a 2009 supernatural horror film directed by David R. Ellis and starring Bobby Campo. It’s a very bad sequel that is the nadir of the franchise.

The Final Destination Movie Review

While watching a car race at a stadium with his friends, Nick has a premonition of a car crash which kills all the audience. However, he manages to save his friends for a while. This is the forth entry in the series and by now the formula had become quite stale, resulting in this sequel that is pretty much a rehash of everything that came before with no original ideas at all.

My main issue with this movie is its lack of memorable set pieces and/or interesting characters. Bobby Campo was okay in the main role and this character is the only one who at least got some development, but others were all mediocre and forgettable. I did not care at all what happened to them.

But this flick even lacks in the set pieces department. Gone are the memorable car chases and crazy scenarios that defined its predecessors in favor of random deaths that appear throughout, but aren’t as striking as those that came before. It’s all quite stale really.

The Final Destination also has a cast of unknown actors and none of them did a good job, especially the actresses. At times watching this movie felt like seeing an adult film or a direct to video offering as this is how mediocre this cast is and how bad the dialogue is. The technical aspects are also mediocre, leaving a dour taste in my mouth. It’s not truly atrocious, but it’s quite bad and it is easily the weakest entry in the series.

The Final Destination is the fourth entry in this series and easily the nadir of the entire franchise. It just goes through the motions, repeating the plot of its predecessors while presenting no original ideas of its own. The cast is also mediocre, the technical aspects are weak, and even the set pieces aren’t all that memorable this time around. It’s such a bad sequel.

My Rating – 2
