Friday the 13th Part III is a 1982 slasher film directed by Steve Miner and starring Dana Kimmell. It’s one of the worst movies in the franchise.

Jason Voorhees stalks a group of friends who have just arrived to spend the weekend at a cabin near Crystal Lake. This movie was even worse than its predecessor in large part thanks to its uninspired, rehashed plot that lacked any fresh ideas. It’s such a rote, mediocre sequel that had no reason to exist whatsoever.
The movie’s worst offender is the acting from its weak cast of performers. None of these characters were interesting in the slightest and the actors couldn’t elevate the roles at all due to their poor acting skills. There is so much emphasis on sex here that the result was a movie that felt very clichéd as most of those scenes led to slashing and killing.
As for the kills, there are some inventive ones for sure. That entire scene in the bathroom was quite memorable and fun in its own trashy way. Jason himself was quite cool in this movie and this is where he got his famous hockey mask for the first time, so the movie at least has that iconography going for it.

But the problem with Part III is that I did not care about any of its characters and what happened to them. The movie was so weakly acted, edited and directed, lacking the visceral thrills of the original. The mythology is also not all that interesting here.
The third Friday the 13th movie is quite bad. There are some memorable kills here for sure, but terrible characterization and poor acting were its worst offenders along with an uninspired and rehashed script. It’s a movie that had no reason to exist and it’s one of the worst entries in the franchise.
