Fury Movie Review
Fury is a 2014 war film directed by David Ayer and starring Brad Pitt in the main role. It is one of the worst movies of this year.

History is violent“

Wardaddy, along with his crew of five members, embarks on a mission that puts many lives in danger. The crew members realize that the odds are against them, but still decide to attack the Nazi army. David Ayer is a terrible director as he hasn’t made a single decent movie that I liked. This one saw him at his more serious, but in attempting to make a WWII movie, he again showcased to all of us that he is not fitted for this type of work to begin with.
This is not an anti-war movie. It is an action flick that just happens to be set in World War II. We do not get any insight about this conflict that we already did not know and the dramatic elements are pretty much absent.
The approach here was obviously to make a grounded war film, but it ended up being too hyperrealistic as the filth, gore and overall chaos was more annoying than admirable. It’s the type of testosterone-driven, cursing-infested, violent genre film that is simply not made for me and I can only see adolescent men truly loving it to pieces.
Brad Pitt was well cast, but the character that he played was insufferable and such an unlikable human being. Every single one of the men in this tank was barely developed and they felt like walking clichés. The conflicts on racial grounds between them felt particularly unrealistic and frustratingly one-note. The dialogue overall is terrible as it felt too modern and anachronistic.

Fury is technically well made and obviously the details when it comes to the tanks and warfare were accurate to the time period and the setting. The score and cinematography are also quite solid. But no strong technicalities could ever save this movie from being a pointless excursion in machismo and gory violence that never felt meaningful in anything that it did. 2014 was an incredible year for film and this is the only one that I watched that I strongly disliked.
David Ayer is a terrible director who has never made a decent movie and Fury is no exception. This was one of the worst films of 2014, a movie that was a pointless excursion in violence and soldiers sparring with each other with no meaningful moments to be found at any time. It’s technically well made, but the dialogue felt hopelessly anachronistic, the characters were horrendous and the hyperrealism on display was too aggressive.
