Working for Peanuts is a 1953 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a pretty weak flick.

Chip and Dale try to steal Dolores the Elephant’s peanuts at the zoo, and Donald, her keeper, tries to stop them. This is an odd movie that simply did not work for me. The animation is quite good and the chipmunks are as amusing and endearing as always. They had a couple of good moments here as they always do.

But the issue here is that the plot simply is very weak to sustain an entire short. The elephant bit was unnecessary and Donald was sidelined to the point that it felt that this wasn’t his movie at all. I would have preferred him with the chipmunks in another setting and with more screen time shared between all three.

Working for Peanuts is a well made flick that has its moments, but the setting was uninteresting and Donald was seriously sidelined in this one.
