Will & Grace Season 11 Review

The eleventh season of Will & Grace is probably the weakest one of them all, but a solid conclusion to the show nonetheless.

This is Upstate New York, I’m like a nine here.

People don’t even think I’m pregnant

Will & Grace Season 11 Review

Eat, Pray, Love, Phone, Sex lets us know that Grace is pregnant, which is going to become an overdone storyline very quickly. The highlight here is Will and Karen’s hilarious phone sex. Pappa Mia has Will worried about the sex of his kid with Jack there to comfort him. With Enemies Like These introduces Karen to a new baseball business as well as Stan’s brother, but the highlights are Will and Jack’s bald game and the revelation that Grace’s hateful neighbor is her cousin.

The Chick and the Egg Donor is a fine episode that progresses the babies storyline, but is overall just a transitional story. The Grief Panda is quite amusing in the silly panda storyline, and I liked that Will and McCoy ended things, but they still ended up together in the last episode anyway. I did not recognize Demi Lovato at all, but she played Will’s surrogate pretty well. Performance Anxiety is otherwise forgettable.

What a Dump is hilarious in Grace’s subplot where she once again destroys her chance with a man. Lies & Whispers is problematic as it only further perpetuates America’s obsession with enrolling their kids super early in schools, though the SJW jokes were solid. Bi-Plane is one of the best episodes of this season. Jack’s subplot is so well done while the subplot where Will and Grace do not believe in bisexuality only further pinpointed how out of touch with the modern world they really are.

Of Mice and Men is mostly a silly affair, but Marilyn belittling Grace was quite fun. Accidentally on Porpoise is once again hilarious in James’s relationship with Grace where she basically destroyed an endangered species. Filthy Phil is a pretty entertaining two-parter. Though Part II ended things off in a predictable fashion, Part I is a very funny episode where Joel McHale killed it as a crazy psychotic love interest of Karen’s.

The Favourite is a fun episode with Karen and Jack being particularly amusing while trying to get her necklace back from her mansion. Broadway Boundaries is particularly memorable in the gender balloon scenes, but We Love Lucy is such a silly, unnecessary filler episode this late in the show’s run, which felt inappropriate. It’s also a big shame that Beverly Leslie appeared in the weakest episode of this season.

New Crib is particularly memorable in Karen’s celebration, which was suitably over-the-top and entertaining. As for It’s Time, it’s a pretty good finale. I did not like that Karen got back with Stan whatsoever. I found that development highly disappointing. But Jack getting to be on Broadway, though in a very filler role was wonderful and hilarious. Will and Grace bought a new house for themselves where they can continue their weird, but functional relationship further into the future.

Overall, I did like this final season. It ended solidly, some episodes are quite entertaining and in particular Jack and Karen continued to shine, but the baby storyline with Will and Grace took way too much screen time from everyone else and most episodes here are far from great. It’s the weakest season of the show, but at least not a misfire in any shape or form.

Worst Episodes: Pappa Mia and We Love Lucy.

Best Episodes: What a Dump, Filthy Fill Part I and It’s Time.

My Rating – 3.6

  1. Season 11 of Will & Grace is the weakest one of the entire show but I still think it’s a great season in my opinion and is definitely not bad however it is low on my ranking because it felt inferior to previous seasons and is not as great as the rest further on the list. The season I can tell really felt final because everything that was in the show wrapped up greatly and even with the flaws, I wouldn’t say this season is the worst season of the show, yet alone the worst season of any series. The storylines going on in this finale is Grace got pregnant, Will and Grace plan to have babies and become parents, Grace prepares to give birth, Karen joins a baseball team and Jack gets to be an actor on Broadway. The great things about this season are that Will and Grace’s relationship is further focus, Will and Jack’s friendship is amazingly portrayed, it has most of its episodes good but far great, Jack and Karen continue to shine with their relationship and it was hilarious seeing Karen with a baseball team. The not so great things about it are the writers we’re just rehashing plots from previous seasons, McCoy didn’t appear as much as before and Grace and Karen had a lack of scenes together since Debra Messing and Megan Mullally were feuding and Karen was absent twice as a result which made this the lowest rated season of the show. So overall, Season 11 is still liked by me and it ended very solidly seeing it as a solid conclusion to the show nevertheless and at least it’s safe to say that it’s not a huge misfire in any way, shape or form.
