Wild and Woody! is a 1948 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a forgettable flick.

Woody goes into a Wild West town and becomes a sheriff, but Buzz arrives to challenge him. This movie coming after the last incredible flick came as a disappointment to me as it’s much inferior to it. The animation is stellar and Buzz is as memorable as he was before, but he needed a better role nonetheless.

Woody is rather forgettable in this entry and the conflict is underutilized. The gags range from mediocre to uninteresting. The atmosphere and visuals worked for me and the movie has a lot of charm in its tone, but it also needed more energy and better humor to take it through the finish line properly.

Wild and Woody! has fine animation and atmosphere, but it needed better gags and a stronger plot.
