Who’s Cooking Who? Review

Who’s Cooking Who? Review

Who’s Cooking Who? is a 1946 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a very familiar, but fun short.

Winter has arrived and Woody has nothing to eat, but then a hungry wolf arrives at his door to eat him, so the two fight each other as they both intend to eat the other one. My only issue with this movie is that we’ve seen this same plot done before and done a bit more effectively. The entire second half was unoriginal.

With that being said, it is still a fun, diverting cartoon that features strong animation, a memorable wolf character and a couple of solid gags. Woody’s at his most psychotic here. I actually liked that beginning the most as it was such a fun, more modern take on the famous fable starring the grasshopper and the ants. I wished to have seen an entire Woody movie starring these insects.

Who’s Cooking Who? has a great beginning, strong animation and a memorable Woody, but it felt too familiar in its overall plot to the previous shorts.

My Rating – 3.8
