Wacky Bye-Baby Review

Wacky Bye-Baby Review

Wacky Bye-Baby is a 1948 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a solid flick.

Woody sees that Wally wants to adopt a baby son, so he pretends to be one. He then obviously continues to harass the poor walrus. This is a very familiar short in its basic formula that we’ve seen countless times by now in these cartoons. The series by this point has become quite uninventive.

Still though, they executed this premise so well because they were accustomed to it. Woody isn’t overly sadistic here, but just the right mix of manic and terrible. Wally genuinely fought back in the second half, which made the movie more satisfying. The two are great archenemies and they had such a fun dynamic in this short.

Wacky-Bye Baby has a familiar premise, but very good execution of it. The second half was particularly entertaining.

My Rating – 3.8
