Trouble Indemnity (1950)
Trouble Indemnity Review
Trouble Indemnity is a 1950 animated short film from the Mr. Magoo series. It isn’t a great movie, but it’s pretty good overall.
An insurance salesman enters Magoo’s house hoping to make a sale. Magoo refuses but the salesman is eventually able to sell Magoo some by posing as one of Magoo’s old college chums. But then Magoo walks unknowingly to the construction site, so the men rush in to help him not get hurt as their investment depends on it. This is your standard Mr. Magoo short in that it focuses on him walking around and putting himself in danger while remaining ignorant about it.
There are a couple of very funny moments in the beginning when the salesman gets his negotiation from Magoo. The final third of the film is not as interesting as the construction site setting has been done to death in animation both before and after this flick. The animation is only serviceable and so is the sound, but Magoo steals the movie with his very amusing lines of dialogue and the salesman is also a lot of fun.
Trouble Indemnity isn’t the greatest Mr. Magoo short, but it’s a very good one with solid characterization and some very amusing scenarios.
My Rating – 4
