Toy Tinkers (1949)
Toy Tinkers Review
Toy Tinkers is a 1949 Disney animated short film starring Chip ‘n’ Dale and Donald Duck. It is a very entertaining flick.
The two chipmunks try to steal nuts from Donald’s home during Christmas. They end up using toys as weapons against him and an all-out war ensues. This is yet another short that begins with the chipmunks entering the duck’s home, so the setting and premise aren’t too original, but the execution matters and it’s stupendous here.
This is by far one of the best cartoons starring these three characters as it makes perfect use of all three of them. Donald is absolutely hilarious with the highlight being him using weapons and blabbering his war yells. That scene was so funny. The two chipmunks were also surprisingly memorable and I loved the fact that they were all equal in their fighting. The animation is just gorgeous, especially of the snow and the detailed toy mechanics while the sound is also terrific. How they made use of these toys as weapons was wildly inventive.
