Too Hop to Handle (1956)
Too Hop to Handle Review
Too Hop to Handle is a 1956 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a hilarious short.
Sylvester Junior tries to bring mice to their house using the Pied Piper technique by blowing the pipe. Hippety Hopper abruptly arrives and starts harassing Sylvester with his kid being utterly disappointed in his weakling father. This is your regular story for these three characters and there is nothing new under the sun here. However, the cartoon elevates the formula of the series by being amazing in humor and dialogue.
Everything here is much greater than it usually is. Sylvester Junior emerges as a genuine star. He’s always been funny, but here he is hysterical. His final line is brutally effective and every single thing that he says to his dad cracked me up. I loved the voice acting here. The whole Pied Piper routine was also very well realized in the context of these three characters. You feel for Sylvester in this film as he is once again tortured to the extremes while Hippety is cute and lethal as always.
