To Catch a Woodpecker Review

To Catch a Woodpecker Review

To Catch a Woodpecker is a 1957 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty solid short.

The Miracle Telephone Company attempts to stop Woody Woodpecker from pecking holes in its telephone poles. This is a weird premise, but the movie is pretty well executed, so it made up for that strangeness. The older man here is quite memorable, though him being costumed as a woodpecker grew old pretty quickly.

The highlight is certainly the scene with the bomb that was familiar, but perfectly executed. There is a lot of energy and solid humor to the proceedings here while the animation is quite good too. The movie is nothing new or unique, but it does what this series does best, which is fun, fast paced action and lunacy.

To Catch a Woodpecker is a standard, but solidly executed Woody Woodpecker short with a couple of stellar sequences.

My Rating – 3.8
