There Auto Be a Law is a 1953 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a peculiar little flick.

This one consists of many blackout gags about cars, the history of cars and many different kinds of drivers. Personally, I found its thematic interest not focused or narrow enough as ultimately it became a film about anything with cars really. The movie is also obviously uneven in terms of quality with most of the first half being not that fun.

But the second half is where the best gags lie, in particular every moment with that stand seller is excellent. It was a very clever joke that paid off with that terrific finale. I also really liked the meek man appearing throughout, and I found the animation here terrific, especially the character and car designs.

There Auto Be a Law is an uneven blackout gag cartoon with a particularly strong second half and animation.
