The fourth season of The Ren & Stimpy Show is more in line with the previous season in terms of quality than with the first two much better ones.

Hermit Ren is wonderful as it emphasizes the friendship between the two in such a moving manner. It’s one of the highlights of the season for sure. House of the Next Tuesday is totally forgettable itself. A Friend in Your Face is such a typically gross episode of the show that works how offbeat and meticulously detailed it is.
Blazing Entrails is such a visually unique episode that utilizes its setting superbly and leads to one of the season’s most imaginative outings. Lumber Jerks, Prehistoric Stimpy and Farm Hands all are well set and had potential, but ended up being just okay and rarely anything more than that. Magical Golden Singing Cheeses is too odd for it to work, A Hard Day’s Luck is solid and fun whereas I Love Chicken is suitably crazy in its humor and plot.
Powdered Toast Man vs. Waffle Woman is a ridiculous filler episode in a sense, It’s a Dog’s Life is forgettable, Egg Yolkeo is silly, but not the best utilized and Double Header is a solid circus episode that could have been greater overall. The Scotsman in Space is too odd, Pixie King almost as much and Aloha Hoek has its moments, but overall it’s not amusing enough.
Insomniac Ren is excellent, finally a strong episode after a string of weaker ones. It has such a fantastic premise and it’s very aggressive which I appreciated as it made it edgy. My Shiny Friend also is solid with Stimpy stealing the show here. Cheese Rush Days and Wiener Barons aren’t great, Galoot Wranglers is very weak and Ren Needs Help! is very dark and memorable.

Ol’ Blue Nose is solid overall and sometimes very entertaining, Stupid Sidekick Union doesn’t fit the show with its politics at all, but Superstitious Stimpy is a lot of fun with a very strong premise. Travelogue is a strong finale to this season with a very adventurous tone to it and suitably aggressive and dark outcome.
In the end, this fourth season isn’t all that great. It has some great episodes which are really terrific and memorable, but many are either solid or just okay. The 27-episode or segment count was also too much this time around.
Worst Episodes: House of Next Tuesday, Magical Golden Singing Cheeses and Powdered Toast Man vs. Waffle Woman.
Best Episodes: Hermit Ren, A Friend in Your Face, Insomniac Ren and Travelogue.
