The Hasty Hare (1952)
The Hasty Hare Review
The Hasty Hare is a 1952 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a terrific movie.
Marvin the Martian along with K-9 is assigned to bring an Earth creature to Mars with him. He chooses Bugs, but naturally Bugs is there to foil his plans. Unexpectedly, he manages to do just that. I liked that twist, even though it led to an overly incompetent Marvin, but still Bugs is at his best when tricking people. Many of his lines and manipulations here are fantastic.
The whole movie is great, albeit the ending itself could have been funnier, though it was still solid. I personally loved the scenes in space, and the first time he tricked the two was hilarious, especially how angry Marvin got. This is the first movie where he gets a voice, and this nasal voice suits him perfectly, and is instantly iconic. I loved everything about him in this short whereas K-9 himself is so cute.
The Hasty Hare is gorgeously animated, very entertaining and mostly a hilarious Marvin the Martian short that is important for featuring his first voice performance.
