The Great Piggy Bank Robbery (1946)
The Great Piggy Bank Robbery Review
The Great Piggy Bank Robbery is a 1946 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid Daffy Duck short.
I am personally not acquainted with Dick Tracy at all so I did not really get most of this short’s humor. I could see that it’s great, but it flew right over my head unfortunately. But the film itself is very strong, albeit I wanted more action in it as it’s surprisingly devoid of that, especially in the first half.
But the second half becomes more entertaining and Daffy here shines in all of his blabbermouth glory as he speaks incredibly fast and many of his lines are so amusing and the way he acts as a detective was so entertaining. I liked the film’s dream structure and especially its great animation and impressive imagination. It truly is a different than your usual short with the duck.
The Great Piggy Bank Robbery is not overly entertaining, but it’s amusing in Daffy’s signature blabbering and it’s visually very pleasing.
