The Dark Knight Rises Movie Review
The Dark Knight Rises is a 2012 superhero film directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale and Tom Hardy among others. It’s the best entry in this trilogy.

Yes, I am once again in a huge minority when it comes to this franchise. I disliked the first entry, I really did not like the second one and I find this third film easily the best one, and the only enjoyable one really. That’s because I liked this plot much more as it’s more superhero-oriented and much more entertaining and less crime-oriented.
I honestly loved Bane as the movie’s main villain. Tom Hardy once again covered his face for the role, but overall his voice and mannerisms were great. In particular, I admired how tough of an opponent he was, and his fight scenes were great. Witnessing Batman get beat up brutally was fantastic as it led to a more serious movie with real consequences.
I also found Bale’s performance much improved here, and I liked seeing the character struggle. I also really liked Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman and she was quite memorable, but admittedly she paled in comparison to Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic turn in ‘Batman Returns’. I also found the twist here very well handled and well connected to ‘Batman Begins’.
The Dark Knight Rises has much improved action and fight sequences this time around, though they are still far from great. But they are solid and fun. I also really liked the overall story and a more fun instead of pretentious approach to storytelling and dialogue.

But the movie still hast its many issues such as a particularly slow pace, once again a ridiculously long runtime at two and a half hours and some scenes that simply do not work such as that ending. The entire character played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt was wasted in my opinion, though he had some potential. But still, though technically not great, it’s much more entertaining and memorable than the previous two entries leading to an underrated superhero flick and one of the more underrated Nolan films for sure.
Though it still has its expected problems such as slow pacing, a ridiculously long runtime and some scenes and characters that simply do not work, The Dark Knight Rises is otherwise a more entertaining film than its predecessors with much better action, an interesting storyline and a great villain in Bane. It’s an underrated flick that is in my opinion easily the best of the trilogy.
