The Clock Watcher Review

The Clock Watcher is a 1945 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is solid, but far from great cartoon.

Donald works wrapping gifts in a store, where he is constantly controlled by his boss, who speaks to him through a speaker pipe. This movie is reminiscent of previous films where he was controlled by others, especially the most famous anti-Nazi Donald Duck short. Thus, it lacked originality. It also was in desperate need of more genuinely funny gags.

With that being said, The Clock Watcher is a pretty solid short that is very well animated and featuring Donald in his best mode – the frustrated duck. His frustrations are so entertaining to watch and the voice acting is top-notch too. The movie has some very amusing sequences and a couple of strong character moments for Donald.

The Clock Watcher is a familiar, but solidly executed short that benefits from Donald’s amusing frustrations.

My Rating – 3.7
