Subconscious Password (2013)

Subconscious Password Review
Subconscious Password is a 2013 animated short film directed by Chris Landreth. It’s a movie that did not appeal to me.
The film presents the mental process of remembering a friend’s name as if it were an episode of a game show, with various celebrities attempting to assist Landreth. This one did not do it for me sadly. I appreciated its originality and a concept that was actually quite unique, but the execution left a lot to be desired. I loved some of its imagery and the premise is strong and universally relatable, but how Landreth went about doing this story was wildly uneven.
I did not care for its animation style. It is rough, unpolished and very ugly-looking. I get that its messiness made it artistic, but to me messy is still messy. The live-action segments were also very off-putting and unnecessary. The film is overlong, not all that engaging and rather annoying in its frenetic pacing and editing.
