Snoopy Presents: It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown (2022)
Snoopy Presents: It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown Review
Snoopy Presents: It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown is a 2022 animated television special and the 47th entry in the Peanuts series. It is a pretty good special.
Charlie Brown is determined to win the big baseball game. But things turn into a fiasco right before the matchup when Sally bonds with a little flower on the pitcher’s mound and vows to protect it at all costs. This is among the cutest and most heartwarming, but slightest specials in the series. When all was said and done, I was quite moved, but also left wanting for more.
My main issue here was the lack of more characters from this franchise as the special focuses almost exclusively on Sally herself. There is that one great session that we get from Lucy and Charlie is wonderful, but others were underutilized and forgettable, including Snoopy himself.
But this was Sally’s moment to shine and it ranks among her best stories in the series. Taking care of this one flower is a very Sally thing to do and the examination of her relationship with her brother was wonderful here as Charlie Brown learns that nothing is more important than keeping his little sister happy. The animation is charmingly old-fashioned and the score is just as tender, but in terms of storytelling and scope the special was sorely lacking.
