Smoked Hams is a 1947 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a very crazy cartoon.
This is one of the wildest Woody Woodpecker shorts, one that went insane in its third act. The first act is a bit typical and predictable, but it is toward the end where the short became very memorable, especially in the last sequence that saw Wally torturing Woody with the help of various devices.
It was almost too cruel, but still striking for sure. The movie is well animated, very well executed in its action scenes and featuring some of the best uses of Woody’s antagonist so far in the series’ run. My issue with it is that it’s too brutal for its own sake, forsaking laughs in favor of sheer cruelty.
