Sleep Happy Review

Sleep Happy Review

Sleep Happy is a 1951 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a fun flick.

Woody is snoring so loudly that he drives Wally insane. He tries to shut him up and eventually even throw him out of the house, but to no avail. This is a very well animated short that features some solid backgrounds and inventive gags with the various objects in the house and Woody sleeping in them.

I liked the ending itself and I also appreciated all of the moments where Wally almost lost it. This was a solid film for this Woody antagonist, but I do question if it is best to have Woody not speak at all, which is what was clearly a trend during this era. I am conflicted about this myself, but in this short it mostly worked, though it led to less energy and humor that way.

Sleep Happy has a couple of strong gags and fine animation, but it’s not hilarious as Woody is once again totally silent.

My Rating – 3.8
