Sky Trooper Review

Sky Trooper is a 1942 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is a very familiar cartoon.

Private Donald finally gets a chance to fly in the Air Force, but ends up afraid to go parachuting. This is another Donald in the Army short and one of the weaker ones. The animation is strong. Donald is a lot of fun and Pete is great. The final sequence is excellent, especially the gag where he tries to pull down Pete with him out of the plane. Those moments were the best ones.

But the movie failed to be all that interesting for me due to it being too familiar of a previously released cartoon from another series. Yes, ‘Ace in the Hole’ from the Woody Woodpecker series did this plot first and did it better. This one lacked the energy and excitement of that much stronger short.

Sky Trooper is a fine short that has a great ending, but it is too familiar in plot and lacking in truly memorable sequences.
