Scalp Treatment Review

Scalp Treatment Review

Scalp Treatment is a 1952 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a very forgettable movie.

Buzz Buzzard tries to scalp Woody for his feathered head as a gift to an Indian maiden. Feature Indian stereotypes, this movie is obviously quite dated by today’s standards. It’s also not especially funny and it failed to include anything particularly memorable or unique to this standard plot.

But what I did like here is Buzz Buzzard himself. He continues to be a terrific, formidable opponent to Woody and some of their scenes here really shined, especially the first one where Buzz was the crazy barber who did Woody’s hair in an amusing fashion. I just wished that the rest of the cartoon reached that level of fun and excitement as those first couple of minutes had.

Scalp Treatment has a solid first half and a weak second one. It’s a fine flick, but one that is dated in its plot.

My Rating – 3.4
