Red Riding Hoodlum

Red Riding Hoodlum Review

Red Riding Hoodlum is a 1956 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty weak short.

Woody’s nephew and niece are asked to deliver a bag of goodies to Grandma in the forest where they are attacked by the wolf. This is another one of those cartoons where we see these kid characters that are simply not as interesting as Woody. He was absent here, which was a fatal flaw of the flick.

The animation is strong, the fairy tale elements worked to a degree and I liked some moments with the wolf, but most are uninteresting and the humor is quite lacking in this instance. None of the gags appealed to me in the slightest with the bear ones being overly repeated and dull.

Red Riding Hoodlum has pretty good animation, but everything else is subpar in this Woody-less cartoon.

My Rating – 3
