Ranking Tinker Bell Films
The Tinker Bell franchise from Disneytoon Studios is one that is meant for girls mostly, but surprisingly and unlike many, the series actually evolved and became better with each new entry. Here is my ranking of all six of these movies.
6. Tinker Bell
Yes, the first movie is easily the last one. Although the world building is nice, the problem is that the movie only focused on building this fun world without giving audiences a meaty story or strong characters in the process. It’s unfocused and quite dull.
5. The Lost Treasure
The second movie was only a slight improvement. Yes, the added adventurous elements made it a much more interesting flick, but overall the franchise was still operating at slow, limited in appeal and overly slight storytelling at this point.
4. Secret of the Wings
This fourth entry certainly expanded the world by giving us a view into the icy landscapes that were gorgeously animated as well. The film looks great and is okay overall, but it is a weaker ‘Frozen’ substitution that lacks stronger characterization and higher stakes.
3. The Pirate Fairy
I actually ended up quite liking this pirate entry. Yes, it is way too silly and childish in its second act, but the movie was at its best when it tied in directly to the original ‘Peter Pan’. It’s a fine Captain Hook origin story in its own right and the only movie that harkens back to the character of Tinker Bell’s origins.
2. The Great Fairy Rescue
This is the second best entry in the franchise that features everything that is bad and good about this franchise. The storyline is utterly familiar and tired, but the execution is solid, the movie has a lot of charm and its heart is in the right place. It’s the only entry with the humans, so that sets it apart from others quite nicely.
1. The Legend of the NeverBeast
This is by far the finest entry in the series. Although the movie is again familiar in its rare beast main storyline, the environmental message here was amazing and that finale was beautiful and even deep for this series. The animation is also gorgeous. The first act was less interesting, but most of the movie was endearing and quite important in messaging for kids to see.
it’s crazy how each have their own taste including this ranks, i have my favourites and the least favourite one
