Putty Tat Trouble (1951)
Putty Tat Trouble Review
Putty Tat Trouble is a 1951 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a terrific film.
Finally we get a classic Tweety and Sylvester short that does feature another underdeveloped cat in it and thus it felt too similar to Tom & Jerry in some of their shorts, but still I liked this cat duo and how they competed over the bird. In particular, the second half shines with many great moments in it.
One is that finale which is phenomenally thought out in terms of action and its overall set piece. I also loved that line near the beginning about White Christmas, that cracked me up as it was absolutely hilarious. Tweety here steals the show with his signature endearing charms whereas the cats are good themselves. In particular, the animation is stunning in this one. The buildings, the ice and the snowy atmosphere is wonderful throughout.
Putty Tat Trouble is wonderfully animated, beautifully thought out in terms of action sequences and sometimes hilarious in Tweety’s one-liners.
