Porky’s Duck Hunt (1937)
Porky’s Duck Hunt Review
Porky’s Duck Hunt is a 1937 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very important short.
Yes, this is the very first appearance of one of the series’ biggest stars – Daffy Duck! I am so glad to finally see him appear and I am looking forward to him taking the center stage much more in the future. This time around, his design isn’t yet established and the overall character design is lacking here, though the animation is quite good. The film isn’t hilarious, but it is pretty funny.
It has a couple of very memorable gags such as the gunshot at the end which was so interesting. Daffy himself is so crazy here and for a series called Looney Tunes, we haven’t really seen anyone who is crazy before and finally we do as this duck is super crazy which was funny to witness. His voice is great and this is also important for being the first Mel Blanc’s cartoon and he is going to voice Porky Pig from now on. Awesome.
Porky’s Duck Hunt is hugely entertaining and sometimes quite funny with great gags and it is a great introduction to crazy Daffy Duck.
