Porky the Gob (1938)
Porky the Gob Review
Porky the Gob is a 1938 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is so weak.
It happens on a ship and unfortunately it doesn’t utilize on its setting at all. The film is awfully paced as literally nothing happens in the first half and then it becomes rushed and abrupt in gags and story. A really bad structure. And those gags are for the most part quite uninspired.
The only saving grace here is Porky who really makes this film much better than it would have been without him. I liked the animation and his design and he was just so energetic and endearing here that he definitely deserved all these cartoons from the latter half of the thirties. It’s a shame that the movie itself is not worthy of him.
Porky the Gob is one of the weakest Looney Tunes from this period with great Porky, but bad pacing and weak gags.
