Learn Polikeness is a 1938 animated short from Popeye the Sailor series. It is a fantastic entry that is easily one of the best Popeye cartoons ever.

Learn Polikeness follows Popeye as he learns how to be a gentleman from Bluto. As you can see from this premise, it has a lot of potential and fortunately it is executed as such. This short is just amazing, I loved its plot as I found it to be perfectly well crafted and edited, but I also adored the use of its characters with Popeye being the funniest.

The comedic highlights are the inventive moment with the plant, the action and of course the various lines spoken by Popeye. I just love when his rough, redneck personality is emphasized and this is the entry that uses that side of his personality best. Olive is great and Bluto is so good here. I loved the action here a lot and even though the ending isn’t as great, the film is overall of stupendous quality. It is one of the rare entries from the series that is awesome in every way and it never disappoints. It also has excellent animation with a great use of multiplane camera in its first act. Overall, it is such a stunning short that amazed me with its quality and that made me laugh a lot.

Learn Polikeness is undoubtedly one of the very best Popeye shorts thanks to a perfect use of its characters, great action and absolutely terrific humor with many hilarious lines and moments.
