Organ Grinder’s Swing Review

 Organ Grinder’s Swing is a 1937 animated short from Popeye the Sailor series. It is a very good and constantly inventive entry.

I really liked Organ Grinder’s Swing. Yes, it may be too fast paced and frenetic and it could have been funnier, but it is so well executed with the action being just phenomenal all around. Everything here is memorable and all of the characters are well utilized as well. I really liked Popeye and his hilarious lines, but it is Bluto who continues to be very strong in the last dozen of shorts.

I really loved that beginning sequence as Wimpy is expectedly hysterical in it. But the entire third act is also fantastic as it is so crazy in its action and oh so memorable. The humor is pretty good as well, albeit it is never as hilarious as the series can be. Overall, Organ Grinder’s Swing is a pretty good, definitely satisfying Popeye cartoon.

Organ Grinder’s Swing is too frenetic, but also wildly inventive with many crazy and quite unforgettable moments.
