 I’m in the Army Now is a 1936 animated short from Popeye the Sailor series. It is one of the weakest Popeye entries for sure.

Popeye and Bluto want to go to army to please Olive and what we get are the flashbacks to the previous episodes instead of the real fight off. I was so disappointed by this entry as it certainly had potential. The beginning is perfect and I always love the army fetish of Olive being explored. The ending is also nice, but that beginning remains the highlight.

But everything that came in the middle is so boring as we once again get a filler episode. But the problem here is that the entries they chose were just so lackluster to begin with. All of those episodes were either disappointing or dull and this entry is no exception. I found this short to be one of the worst ever in Popeye filmography. It isn’t bad, but it most certainly isn’t good either.

I’m in the Army Now started off in a nice way, but everything after it is basic filler leading to one of the worst Popeye entries without a doubt.
