Pokémon Season 13 Review
Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl: Sinnoh League Victors is the 13th season of Pokémon and it’s a pretty solid, fun season and an improvement over the previous two.

“Ash and Paul finally came to understand one another“

One of the reasons why this one is better than the 12th and 11th season is naturally because of its much shorter runtime. At 34 episodes, this season is brisker, more entertaining and much more interesting than usual for the show and it mostly flies by despite a number of the usual fillers that we get.
But those fillers do not take too much of the season’s runtime thankfully. They’re there, but what is also there is a number of good fighting episodes. Yes, the highlight of this season are the various duels and fights. Most delivered in pure action spectacle and were well executed and quite fun to watch.
The standout episodes are the final couple of episodes with the tournament. The ending is nice, but naturally the best episodes are the three episodes where the battle between Paul and Ash takes place. Yes, this must have been the longest ever battle for the show thus far and they truly delivered with a greatly executed battle after battle.
And I really like how the two became better friends or at least came to understand and respect one another. Paul surely started off as a rip-off of Gary, but he became better and better afterwards with quite solid characterization.

I liked some of the Pokémon here as well, but most were forgettable. Ash is fine here as is Team Rocket, but Dawn continues to be forgettable and she did not get a proper sendoff in my opinion.
So overall this season is pretty solid and a lot of fun. The adventure episodes are uninteresting, but the battle stuff is a lot of fun and really well executed. I definitely found it to be a respectable conclusion to the Sinnoh region which started off strongly and, as evidenced by this review, it ended pretty well, but the middle parts were lacking. I do hope the next region is better.
Worst Episodes: Regaining the Home Advantage, Dawn of a Royal Day, An Old Family Blend and Working on a Right Move.
Best Episodes: Familiarity Breeds Strategy, A Real Rival Rouser, Battling a Thaw in Relations and The Semi-Final Frontier.
