Pokémon Season 14 Review
Pokémon: Black and White is the 14th season of Pokémon and the new saga of the series with whole new Pokémon and characters. It’s a very promising introduction.

You’re having problems, so I’ll help you out!“

Yes, I really liked this season. It still has its weaker episodes with particularly its middle part being very weak as most of those episodes are boring, filler-like and uninspired. The season would have tremendously benefited from cutting that entire middle part out, as 48 episodes was just too much for this season.
But still, as I said, the season is overall a quite solid introduction to the new characters. So, let’s discuss them. Ash is alone here and the only old character who is still in the show, which is rather interesting. I like how he actually lost more fights here as he needs to better himself. I somewhat missed Brock, but Dawn was uninteresting and thus I didn’t miss her at all.
Who took her place? Well, it’s Iris who is actually much more interesting as we get a more action-oriented and tougher girl on this show for once. As for Cilan, he isn’t particularly interesting and is rather boring, but still likable. His hair color is green and her is blue and that, along with her darker skin, makes this particular saga more diverse in looks.
I also liked their rivals, though they are underutilized. As for Team Rocket, they are quite interesting throughout this season. They got promoted and are now much more mission-oriented and much more successful than before, and that is awesome. However, the splitting of Meowth with them, although I liked for including him with the hero team, I still did not like for excluding Jesse and James way too much for my liking. Their screen time is unfortunately much reduced here.

I really liked those mission episodes and especially the last tournament was fantastic with the episode where Iris and Ash fought taking the cake as the most exciting one. Of the new Pokémon, Snivy is the most memorable and best utilized whereas others are more forgettable. I did like most of their designs, however, as most look very cute.
Overall, this is a very solid opening of the Black and White saga which has a lot of filler episodes, but also a lot of quality fights plus the new characters are pretty good and the mission episodes with empowered Team Rocket are the highlights. It’s actually the best season since the 9th one.
Worst Episodes: The Battle Club and Tepig’s Choice, Minccino – Neat and Tidy, Sewaddle and Burgh in Pinwheel Forest, A Connoisseur’s Revenge and The Lost World of Gothitelle.
Best Episodes: In the Shadow of Zekrom, Ash and Trip’s Third Battle, The Club Battle Finale: A Heroes Outcome, Beheeyem, Duosion, and the Dream Thief and Battle for the Underground.
