Piglet’s Big Movie Movie Review
Piglet’s Big Movie is a 2003 animated family film directed by Francis Glebas. It is another Winnie the Pooh entry from Disneytoon Studios.

Piglet is ashamed of being small and clumsy and wanders off into the Hundred Acre Wood, leading all of his friends to form a search party to find him. The film is thus all about how important Piglet really is for the gang, and how often underappreciated he is.
It’s a standard children’s storyline meant to inspire and warm your heart. And it is very nice that Piglet got his own story, but as was the case with ‘The Tigger Movie’, the same goes here. One character does not suffice for a whole movie, and that is especially the case with this franchise.
Yes, most characters are emphasized here, but still this is Piglet’s movie and that led to a more tedious flick. But I still liked the little guy and it was nice for the movie to acknowledge him as the franchise overall rarely does that.
Pooh is very nice here, nicer than usual actually as he cares very much for Piglet. However, there was a serious shortage of other characters and their moments, especially Tigger who really did not get much to do here which was unfortunate.
Roo did, but he was never a fun character so I did not find that choice all too good. Eeyore got some moments for himself, but both Owl and Rabbit really needed a bigger screen time. As for Christopher Robin, he is surprisingly almost non-existent this time around.

Piglet’s Big Movie is surprisingly well animated. Yes, it is one of those unambitious efforts from this overall very unambitious studio, but at least it’s charming quite a bit in its very simplistic, wonderfully traditional storybook designs. Some imagery here was simply wonderful.
But the soundtrack is so mediocre, and none of the songs were any good or any memorable. In fact, those musical scenes were the weakest overall. I also found its editing structure overly episodic and forced whereas the humor is also lacking in comparison to other entries in the franchise.
Piglet’s Big Movie is charmingly animated and wonderfully old-fashioned, and it has its sweet, moving moments for sure, but overall it’s way too episodic in structure, most of the characters did not get their proper due and the entire storyline is subpar and not all that great.
