Picador Porky (1937)
Picador Porky Review
Picador Porky is a 1937 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a weak short.
Here Porky is not a picador, but rather a matador. The matador oriented cartoons are overdone and this is one of the most forgettable of such cartoons. Porky is endearing and has some fun moments. The animation of the bulls is actually quite good and the film is very well scored. I also really liked its title card in the opening and the entire beginning set up the mood really well.
But the film is just way too long, clocking in at over eight minutes and nothing particularly entertaining or funny happens in it. So the humor is lacking and the action is sorely lacking in excitement. I would have cut at least two minutes from it and that way it would have been more engaging.
Picador Porky looks and definitely sounds good, but is overlong, sometimes dull and not particularly exciting or funny.
