Pettin’ in the Park (1934)
Pettin’ in the Park Review
Pettin’ in the Park is a 1934 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very entertaining, crazy entry.
The film is split into two parts. The first one follows the titular song and the various members of the opposite sex trying to connect. I liked it quite a bit as it has some great gags in it. The second part features a swimming contest between different birds and various shenanigans that happen afterwards. This one is such a crazy, quite eventful part and I liked it as well.
But the problem here is that the two parts do not have anything in common and I do not understand why they just didn’t make two different movies as they definitely had enough material with both of these. I personally liked the first part more, but the second one, although a bit too action oriented, is still so crazy that it is definitely fun watching it. The film also has fine music and animation.
Pettin’ in the Park is oddly put together, but both of its parts are fun and crazy with many amusing gags.
