Out on a Limb is a 1950 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a solid flick.
Donald cuts the branches of the tree where Chip and Dale are. This results in a lot of expected mayhem between the three. This is not one of my favorite movies starring these chipmunks as they are seeing diminishing quality in this period. The animation is gorgeous and the tree setting is beautifully mined for some solid action scenes and interesting scenarios.
But Donald here is not as memorable and he’s clearly in the wrong and I prefer when the little guys are more villainous themselves. The visuals and the score elevate this short, but the comedic bits are not great and the second half was much less interesting than the first one.
