Old Sequoia Review

Old Sequoia Review

Old Sequoia is a 1945 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is one of the better entries in the series.

Donald is a forest ranger, assigned to protect an old sequoia from a pair of beavers in this very entertaining cartoon. It’s one of the best shorts from this period in the series’ history. The beavers were too reminiscent of Chip and Dale, but they were still very amusing. The animation is quite polished and the movie flowed very well throughout.

The highlight is Donald himself and what they put him through in this great storyline for him. For instance, you’ve got that boss that yells at him from the phone. Whenever Donald has a boss that annoys him, the results are always very funny. The tree gags were ridiculous due to their lack of physics and the final sequence set underwater was a lot of fun. The movie could have done more with the beavers themselves, but the premise for the most part was well executed.

Old Sequoia is a terrific Donald Duck short that features strong animation, a good premise and excellent gags and scenarios throughout.

My Rating – 4.2
