Niagara Fools Review

Niagara Fools Review

Niagara Fools is a 1956 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty weak short.

Woody Woodpecker visits Niagara Falls and asks about going over the famous falls in a barrel, which the guard tells him is forbidden. Woody immediately decides to do it anyway. Woody Woodpecker shorts are at their best when they focus on the protagonist and his manic behavior, so movies like this one do not appeal to me as they sideline their star.

This movie is set in an interesting location, but it wasn’t utilized all that well. The gag with the people going down the waterfall in a barrel was simply repetitious as it was recycled way too many times. The movie was oddly focused on this one gag while forsaking Woody throughout.

Niagara Fools has an interesting setting, but weak gags and it sidelined its protagonist way too much.

My Rating – 3
