Misguided Missile (1958)
Misguided Missile Review
Misguided Missile is a 1958 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty forgettable western short.
Woody is hungry and needs food, so he applies to be an insurance salesman and attempts to sell insurance to Dooley. This is one of the funniest and best Woody Woodpecker shorts from this era. Everything here worked to a large degree and I’ve had a blast watching it. Dooley is a solid one-off character and Woody is reliably maniacal and smart here.
The highlight is that third act with the missile action. That entire sequence was certainly prolonged, but it worked as the humor was strong and the situations were quite memorable. How the missile functioned was hilariously cartoony and some of the gags that centered on that were the finest.
