Mickey’s Trailer (1938)
Mickey’s Trailer Review
Mickey’s Trailer is a 1938 Mickey Mouse animated short film that is one of the best entries in the series without a doubt.
Yes, I absolutely adored this short as it’s so original and almost perfect. As the title suggests, the trio lives in a trailer and they drive by day wherever they want while living wonderfully in the driving house together. Now, Donald here needed more scenes, but he was quite funny in that bathtub. Mickey is good in his action scenes and Goofy stole the show for sure, especially in that final line. Goofy is actually becoming the biggest comedic star in this period which is interesting.
The short could have been longer, but it’s entertaining throughout and wonderfully animated with an evident attention to detail. The highlight of the short is the physics-defying action scenes which brought me back to the earlier Mickey Mouse shorts of the early 30s. They are superbly, cleverly executed and never ceasing to make me smile. It’s just such a charming flick in setting, action and character moments. The popcorn scene is also superb!
Mickey’s Trailer is a wonderful flick with great, funny action scenes, a good use of all three characters and a hilarious finale.
