Mickey’s Choo-Choo (1929)
Mickey’s Choo-Choo Review
Mickey’s Choo-Choo is a 1929 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a flawed one.
Mickey boards a train, uses animals as instruments and takes Minnie for the road with him. The problem with this movie is that it is very derivative. Most of these things we had already seen before in ‘Steamboat Willie’ and the movie just never escaped the feeling that it is rehashed and overly familiar.
The animation is solid, but the character design continues to be a problem and it doesn’t progress at all. The score is good and a lot of fun. Some action scenes are fun here and they can be really charming, but the entire short is just okay and nothing more than that as it doesn’t introduce anything new in it.
Mickey’s Choo-Choo is a fine short that is fun and likable, but overly derivative and rehashed.
