Let’s Stick Together Review

Let’s Stick Together Review

Let’s Stick Together is a 1952 animated short film produced by Disney. It’s a pretty flawed flick.

An old Spiker recounts how he and Donald were partners in the past, holding various jobs thanks to the use of Spike’s stinger. This is one of those cartoons that are very problematic in their insistence on work and ambition. The capitalist propaganda for children is quite nauseating when you think about it. But at least they found a good job for both of these characters somehow and it worked to a degree.

I found this short to be lacking in humor. It was overly dramatic and not comedic at all. The romantic subplot was thrown in for no reason and the ending was expected and not as funny as they thought it would be. But the animation is great and the friendship between Spike and Donald is charming as always.

Let’s Stick Together has a weak plot and a frustrating third act, but the charming friendship at its core was its highlight.

My Rating – 3.7
