John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum Movie Review
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is a 2019 neo-noir action thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves. It’s another solid installment in this series.

John Wick is declared excommunicado and a hefty bounty is set on him after he murders an international crime lord. He sets out to seek help to save himself from ruthless hitmen and bounty hunters. This is a very confusing movie. Yes, I highly admired its ambition, but there is no doubt about it – it is hard to follow as it has way too many characters that disguise another thin plot.
Certainly there is more story here than in the previous two entries, but still it should have been better crafted and easier to follow, though the hotel is gloriously utilized. The action is per usual superbly choreographed with many instantly memorable fights while the highlights are the dogs that are so well utilized into the proceedings. The predecessor lacked dogs, but this sequel hints on that first entry so well by including them. The emotion is back here, leading to what is an improvement over the second movie, but still the original is the best one for me.
Let’s talk about the characters. Per usual John Wick is memorably performed by Keanu Reeves in a film that required very little dialogue from him, but he is great in action and him speaking many languages was also interesting to witness. Laurence Fishburn is back and it was great seeing him. Andjelica Huston is utterly wasted on such a small role, but Asia Kate Dillon is quite memorable as a non-binary addition to this roster. The character was underwritten, but the scenes were great.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is visually dazzling with great neo-noir influences and many greatly utilized settings into the action itself. The action is overwhelming and the runtime was just overlong, but still they tried to include at least some interesting plot points and villains along with the very brutal violence, leading to a memorable watch that trumps its predecessor in the memorability factor alone.
