Hot Red Huckster Review

Hot Red Huckster Review

Hot Red Huckster is a 1954 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty entertaining flick.

Woody is driving down the city street singing a “screwy” driving song. Used car owner Buzz Buzzard tries to interest Woody in buying a new car. He shows him various cars but they all are utterly lacking in quality and leave a lot to be desired. This premise of Buzz trying to sell something bad to Woody had always offered a great dynamic for the two characters, so it’s a shame that it didn’t yield more movies.

This flick needed more truly memorable and inspired gags. None of it was particularly funny to me. The animation is also only solid. With that being said, Buzz was so well used here and Woody was at his best when singing and annoying the buzzard. The setting was also well utilized and the ending was a lot of fun.

Hot Red Huckster is an uneven, but fun flick featuring Buzz and Woody in some of their better dynamics.

My Rating – 3.8
