His Better Elf is a 1958 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a pretty weak short.
A leprechaun woodpecker appears and grants Woody three wishes. Woody immediately wishes for immense wealth, and he gets it – by robbing a bank without realizing it. A police chase follows. This is an odd short where Woody interacts with this strange creature that is a green miniature version of himself. The animation is stellar and the voice acting is great too, but the plot is weak.
The energy to this flick is palpable, but the humor left a lot to be desired. I did really appreciate that they did something different, but it hardly worked. The policeman was forgettable and the leprechaun was underdeveloped. It needed more memorable scenarios and dialogue.
