Goodbye My World is a 2024 French animated short film. It’s a pretty simplistic, but memorable flick.

While the world is ending, a man dressed as a fish tries to cross the chaos on a scooter to reach a mysterious tower. This is such a basic movie in its overall concept that it really felt more simplistic than simple. What we have here is just a young man trying to reach his girlfriend while the world is about to end, probably due to asteroid impact. It’s one of those shorts that are slight and lacking in any more meaningful narrative or themes.

But I still really liked it because I enjoyed its romantic twist. The relationship was underdeveloped as are both of these characters, but it was a cute ending nonetheless. The animation is pretty good, the score is also solid and the imagery of the burning skies coupled with a man wearing a fish costume made it more unique than it otherwise would have been.

Goodbye My World is a pretty solid, though slight animated short that is sweet and memorable, but definitely too simplistic.
