Fair Weather Fiends Review

Fair Weather Fiends Review

Fair Weather Fiends is a 1946 animated short film from the Woody Woodpecker series. It is a very familiar, but quite funny short.

After a storm strands them on a deserted island, Woody Woodpecker and his wolf friend end up battling themselves in a quest to find food. My only issue with this movie, but that is a big issue, is that the overall premise is extremely familiar. We’ve seen this type of story before a number of times by now and even done better. The wolf returns here and his story is very similar to his last one.

Fair Weather Fiends is well animated, but the highlight is the humor. Not only is the interplay between the two characters so amusing, but the two are very much equals here, which made it even more fun to watch. The first half is particularly strong with some very imaginative gags. That bird was especially amusing and how he had so many different objects suddenly at his disposal never ceased to make me smile.

Fair Weather Fiends is a familiar movie, but one that was still so well executed and quite funny throughout.

My Rating – 3.9
