Elite Season 3 Review
The third season of Elite is my favorite of the entire series as it was a very strong conclusion to the whole trilogy so far.

While I was at first skeptical that the second season ended with Polo still not going to prison and that they were going to milk this storyline for all it’s worth, I was surprised by this season for dealing with this story so well and ending it in such a moving manner surprisingly enough. The show is still soapy as all hell, but it still remains firmly rooted in strong character work and emotion, and thus you can forgive it for its excessive melodrama and twists and turns.
Rebeka is awesome, thus I found Samuel being so horrible to her very unsympathetic. In fact, he has never been as unlikable as he was in this season, but at least Rebeka fought for herself and she got a great arc with her mother. She is one of the best characters of this season. I also really liked the developing friendship between Samu and Guzman, very well handled and quite sweet. I also really liked that policewoman character and her relationship with Samuel was memorable.
This season introduced yet another throuple and it’s once again involving Polo, which made for a very unrealistic, but still juicy turn. It was very sexy seeing Valerio, Polo and Cayetana together and their dynamic was fun and exciting, but also complicated due to their criminal past. Valerio being a drug dealer was familiar, but well executed. And Cayetana learning to accept her poor social status was quite inspirational and it made for a very moving ending.

In the end, Polo was killed by Lu, which was to me a bit ridiculous, but everybody staying by Lu and covering for her was just wonderful. His lesbian mothers were very notorious characters, but at least their final scene made up for their past just for a little bit.
Speaking of Lu, what they did with her throughout this season was nothing short of brilliant. Yes, it was unrealistic to make her suddenly the best person in the entire school, but it made for a moving building arc and her blossoming friendship with Nadia was just lovable. The two are so endearing in this season and I loved their dynamic so much. Eventually, they both went to NYC, meaning that probably we won’t see them again.
Nadia standing up to her parents was inspiring and finally she became a strong person. As for Omar, I did not care for the Malick character. I found him very unlikable and annoying, which is why the eventual reunion between Omar and Ander was beautiful and all the more moving thanks to Ander’s good future after his cancer treatment. His story was quite sad here.

Carla has to date this guy who is rich and her father basically pimped her in this season, which was a tiresome plot, but eventually it was resolved in a strong manner and she became a better, stronger person in the meantime. Her drug addiction was also very well handled.
At the end of the day, the third season of Elite was another juicy, very entertaining season of this Spanish soap opera that interestingly ended the stories of some characters, but will still continue the stories of others while focusing on some new additions in the next season. The highlights of the season are definitely Lu and Nadia, but all the others got solid arcs and development. The finale is particularly moving as this epic, emotional conclusion.
Worst Episodes: Carla, Cayetana and Valerio.
Best Episodes: Rebeka and Polo.
